Class Descriptions
Acroyoga :  AcroYoga blends the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the loving kindness of the healing arts. These three form the foundation of a practice that cultivates trust, playfulness, and community.

Anusara Yoga:  Anusara Yoga is a style of yoga that is known for its artistry of combining the wisdom of yoga philosophy with anatomical alignment of the body.  Each class uniquely creates a mind, body, spirit experience.  Certified Anusara Yoga teacher Jane Goldstein has dedicated over 14 years and 1500 hours to the study of this method.

Ashaya Yoga:
  Ashaya is a Sanskrit word that means, “abode of the heart”, it blends precise, biomechanical alignment techniques with empowering and spiritually uplifting heart virtues that support a total awakening and harmony of body, mind, and spirit. This transformational yoga is more than just a “yoga workout”. In addition to building strength, balance, flexibility, and healing chronic pain, you leave each class calm, focused, and inspired to live the best version of yourself.

Beginners Yoga:
  Beginners are welcome to join our classes.  We recommend you start with either a Gentle Yoga or Level 1 class.  Studio mats are available for your use.

Classic Rock Yoga:
  Practice to a variety of classic rock music. This class emphasizes fun while celebrating the joy of yoga. The focus is on gaining strength and incoporates the use of bands and balls for strength drills.  

Focus on Form:
  All who want to begin a yoga practice or refine their understanding of yoga postures are welcome. This class teaches the fundamental alignment principles that build the foundation of a yoga practice. Proper form in the yoga poses is taught in a safe and structured method using anatomical alignment techniques. Yoga props such as bolsters, straps, blocks & chairs may be used during class to enhance the therapeutic benefits.  

Fun with Arm Balances:
  This level 2-3 class includes instruction for and the break down of a wide variety of arm balances such as handstand, crow, grasshopper and many others.

Gentle Yoga: The focus of Gentle yoga is on relaxation, stress reduction, and light stretching. This class is for any student who wishes to move at a slower pace and is appropriate for students with limitations of the wrist, knee, hip or back. It includes breathing exercises, restorative poses.

Happy Hour Yoga:
  A playful and energetic level 2-3 vinyasa yoga class with music and laughs.  Happy Hour Price $5. 

Hatha Yoga:
  Please read descriptions for level 1, 2 & 3.  

Hot Vinyasa: Classes are held in a heated room.  You will build strength, improve balance and felxibility and release toxins as you relieve stress.  Come to class hydrated.  Bring a towel (or two) in hand and your own yoga mat and water.  Hot Vinyasa welcomes all levels of students.

Introduction to Yoga:  Geared to the beginning student, this nurturing class focuses on helping you get started in yoga classes. Enjoy the most common poses which establish the foundation of an ongoing yoga practice.

Iyengar Yoga:  All students are welcome in this class that focuses on precise body alignment and detailed instruction. form of Hatha Yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama). The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained through the asanas.

Kirtan:  Experience the practice of Bhakti yoga through devotional chanting. This very ancient practice is a call and response form of chanting in the Indian tradition. It can be thought of as vocal meditation. Everyone is welcome No previous experience is needed and words to the chants are provided. We use recorded music from popular artist.

Level 1: The poses in Level 1 classes build a solid foundation of strength, flexibility and an understanding of hatha yoga. This class is ideal for those new to yoga or returning to yoga after a long sabbatical. The class includes all of the basic standing poses, hip openers, forward bends, gentle back bends and twists.

Level 2: A deeper awareness of the basic poses is created as confidence and endurance both grow. This level of class explores more challenging poses and incorporates preparation poses for arm balances, inversions and backbends. This class encourages you to grow in your yoga practice in a safe and supportive environment.

Level 3: This class is for experienced students who have a dedicated yoga practice. Participants in this class can kick up into handstand at the wall and push up into back bend in the center of the room. Arm balances, inversions, and advanced options for basic poses are included. It helps to have a sense of humor in Level 3 classes.


Mindful and Mellow:
  Mindful & Mellow: Begins with gentle yoga. The focus is on relaxation and stress reduction through mindful awareness. May include instruction on meditation, breathwork or a philosophy discussion. This is a great class for beginners.  

Mixed Level Yoga: Yoga students of level 1, 2 & 3 are invited to get join together for a class experience. Poses are taught in a layer technique so that each student is able to work to their level.

Prenatal Yoga: Prenatal yoga is a gentle class specifically designed to support and empower moms-to-be. The class will focus on opening the hips and pelvis, strengthening the lower body in preparation for giving birth, opening and relaxing the chest, shoulders and neck, and releasing the back. Yoga will help to strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, promote relaxation and sleep, and increase overall comfort.

Restorative Yoga:Appropriate for anyone desiring a very gentle class. Designed to balance fast paced lifestyles with deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation using the aid of props, breathing practices and guided meditations to allow the body to experience passive stretching and renewal.

Rockin' Vinyasa: Practice to a variety of music from classic rock to classical Indian. This flow style class emphasizes fun while celebrating the joy of yoga through fluid movement and connection to the breath.

Slow Flow Yoga:  This mixed level class is a fluid practice of flowing poses without rushing.  Mindfulness of movement is emphasized by linking dynamic movement with breathing.  A full spectrum of poses are explored in this slow vinyasa that allows time to experience the depth of each pose.  Build strength, flexibility, and body awareness as you flow.

Strengthen & Stretch:
  This fitness based class focuses on strength and toning for the abdominals, back, legs and arms. Perform simple exercises using gliders, balls, bands or body weight. Finishing with stretching and relaxation.  

Vinyasa Yoga:Vinyasa is a dynamic flowing practice linking a variety of poses together in a sequence. Both strength and flexibility poses are explored and core strengthening is included in each class.

Yoga Basics:
  Geared to beginning & continuing students, this class focuses on alignment, creative use of props, and breathing techniques taught in safe, supportive environment. Come learn the basics, which establish the foundation of an ongoing yoga practice. Everyone is welcome.
Yoga Fusion:  a fusion of flow yoga, strength excercises, breathwork & ending with a short meditation.

Yoga Stretch for Men:
  This fitness based yoga stretch class focuses on stretching hamstrings, hips and low back. It will incorporate core strengthening and will help improve range of motion for golf, tennis and over all physical health.  

Yoga Fusion:  A fusion of vinyasa yoga, core empowerment, pranayama and meditation.

Zen Meditation:  Led by members of the Morningstar Sangha, this Zen Buddhist mindfulness meditation practice includes sitting meditation and walking meditation.  New participants need to arrive at 7:15 for brief instruction.  We can provide cushions or you may bring your own.  If you have any questions or are planning to attend, please RSVP by noon each Wednesday to shericoldwell@att.net.  This class is by donation.

*You are welcome to drop in to any class on the schedule.  Drop-in fee is $16.

*We offer a Studio Class card of 8 classes for $108 or 16 classes for $200, good for any yoga class on the schedule.(8 class cards expires in 90 days and 16 class cards expire in 120 days)
